I actually never used any of these things aside from facebook. I could see me using a blog maybe later in life when I have some profound things to say-haha! Or maybe as a jumping off point as an author. I actually happened upon a young girl's blog who had lost her mother and was ready to begin college after breaking up with her long-time boyfriend...It was just as interesting as any short novel I've read! But at the same time, it felt almost like I was reading somenone's diary. She has quite a following and only then can I see the purpose-of course too, you would have to write to gain a following! I can also see if you have a group with a purpose-such was ours-for members to share the things and tribulations they are discovering and having problems with to help each other out.
Flickr I am and will certainly use. I really like the idea of using pictures for my own personal file of things I like and want to try so I don't "lose" them!
Facebook-with all it's evils-I am still a fan-just not as hard core as I used to be. I do like to stay connected and view some great pictures...
I'm not sure I would keep up with google reader and igoogle pages. I know I did say this somewhere else before, but I sure wish there was ONE place for everything. I think it would help me stay more organized and that's why I cannot wait to get to the assignment that will supposedly do that for me:)
Two things I think would make this course better next time around- 1. the one video that was posted without sound just drove me nuts. I had to keep watching it over and over and I still did not get it! Please make sure all have sound:) 2. I think there should be more interaction between the participants. Maybe require that each participant has to view and post to three (just picking a number from the air here!) different blogs each week and to meet, or all be able to teleconference to keep up and learn from others in the group-what worked for them, etc.
But so far, I have REALLY enjoyed trying out new things and this was a push that I may not have made for myself. I can see where alot of this stuff is and would be VERY popular at the high school level. (and others who are much more organized than myself!)
